June 2011 Mont St Michel

I’ve just got back from Normandy where I was photographing a village for France Magazine. I’ve always wanted to visit Mont St. Michel but the weather was not very good. In fact it was terrible. However, the gods of light managed to smile on me for a few seconds and I managed to capture a moody image which I’ve converted into black & white. Find out about the tides before you go as they can vary by 15m, the highest in Europe!

I’m running the ‘lavender’ workshop in Provence next week . Photos will be posted on my return

The wonderful world of macro.

I recently bought the Canon 100mm IS macro lens. I have been experimenting on the spring flowers in our garden and have to say that it has opened up a whole new world. I love the abstract impressionistic nature of the images. I think they would make beautiful prints.I will post more later.

Pig on wheels

I asked the driver to slow down so I could take this from the side. The traffic behind didn’t like it much but the passenger thought it was funny. Shame the pig didn’t look at me too!

Vietnam

I thought I would share a few photos of Vietnam from earlier this year. I have always wanted to go there: I guess it is all the war films from when I was a kid. I was surprised by how built up it is. However, as the next dragon with a population of over 80 million that is hardly surprising. The people are very gracious and resilient which more than made up for some of the more negative effects of change.

Is there anybody out there?

Hi everybody. I have finally got round to creating a blog. I hope you enjoy my posts & I look forward to making some new online friends. I will try to post different material on my blog to the website, keeping you up to date with my wanderings, with information on my photo tours and recent work.

So far this year has been busy. January started well with 3 weeks in Hong Kong & Vietnam. In February, I went to the Canary Islands which I love at that time of year. April has been a bit manic with trips to the Camargue, Calanques, Gorges du Tarn & the High Pyrenees.  May is set to be even busier but I will endeavour to keep adding posts when I have time.

I have a lot of shoots to do for travel magazines in Normandy, Corsica, the Lot & France in general as well submitting new images of the UK for my photo agency in readiness for the Olympics. I am running workshops here in the Dordogne and elsewhere including Provence, Corsica, Languedoc & the Camargue, whilst researching other locations for new photo tours in 2012. Apart from there not being enough hours in the day, it promises to be a good year!
